The 2002 Exhibition

The 2002 Exhibition, held in the Portland Drill Hall, was our first to have a special theme, History of land-use in the Glenelg River Basin. This follows our collaboration with the Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority:

'The benefit is mutual' stated Polly Hall, Community Education Coordinator with the GHCMA. 'The Authority is keen to promote understanding of Glenelg River issues and educate the wider community about the value of environmental flows to ensure long-term health of our waterway'. Ms Hall said 'the exhibition ... assist(s) this process by showcasing some remarkable historic images of the river and land-use within the catchment.'

Of course, the 2002 Exhibition still displayed the approximately 1,000 enlarged photos of the District that fascinate local (and not so local) historians, lovers of nostalgia, motor/railway/air enthusiasts, admirers of photographic art, family historians ...
