Merino State School 2115 was opened on 27th of January 1879 by TYTHELEIGH MLA acting for the Minister for Public Instruction. The school was later extended, the gallery removed and lower windows provided. When last used to accomodate the infant grades of Merino Consolidated School in November 1956 it consisted of three rooms and two porches.
