Alan Goodall aboard his 1978 Tiger Triumph.
Alan was a Hamilton boy who served as a 17 year old in the royal Australian navy during world war 2 and on return from duties at sea became a builders appentice with the Patterson family whose home and sheds were situated on the corner of Bree and Kent Roads.
A mad keen motorcyclist he joined the post war Hamilton Motorcycle Club operating from Riley motorcycles, 258 Gray Street, Hamilton and got to know Keith and Ken Riley extremely well.
At about this time Ken Riley was competing in motorcycle races, as was brother Keith but Ken preferred operating a sidecar outfit with Ron Pfluger as his passenger.
Although Ron Pfluger loved motorcycles being on the sidecar was not part of racing that he enjoyed and gave it away very quickly.
Ken Riley then asked Alan if he would like to take on the job and as a team they won races all over the western district, wimmera, Ballarat, Metropolitan and interstate and became known as a formidable pairing throughout the Australian motorcycling fraternity.
Their first race together was at Edenhope in June of 1949 and their last was in the mid 1960's.
Alan cannot remember the exact year as he has not been well lately and the brain cells are fading(does this sound a bit like most of us as we build up the years).
