Wando vale picnic early 1900,s (on top of the hill near Berren).
The ladies foot race. A community gathering such as this was extremely important when you consider that people either walked ,rode a horse or if they were very lucky came by horse and waggon or buggy travelling many miles to get to the picnic. Such a social gathering would have been held yearly, a time to meet the neighbours and spend time relaxing.
