"King Alfred" The first thoughbred horse to arrive in Victoria, he arrived at Portland in 1853 on board the ship the "Severn" where he was jumped into the sea and swam ashore. Owned by Richard Lewis who built the "Woolpack Inn" Digby's first Inn and also the owner of "Rifle Downs" station to where he was taken.
Possibly a Thomas Hannay Photo 1859 as the original came from Hogarths who were related to the Lewis family where some other Hannay photos were found.
